At Folded Heirs | Ear-Resistible Folds, our greatest priority is ensuring every kitten enjoys a lifetime of love, health, and happiness. We carefully match our kittens with committed families who understand the responsibility of welcoming a new companion into their home.

By adopting one of our kittens, you agree to the following policies.

Pet Homes

Unless otherwise agreed upon in writing, all Folded Heirs kittens are placed as cherished family companions.

To protect the long-term health of our kittens and preserve the integrity of our breeding program, all pet kittens must be spayed or neutered by seven (7) months of age, or as recommended by your licensed veterinarian.

Proof of the completed procedure must be provided for our records.

Lifetime Commitment

Every Folded Heirs kitten is a member of our extended family for life.

If circumstances ever change and you are no longer able to care for your cat, we ask that you contact us immediately. We will gladly assist in finding the best possible solution, including welcoming your cat back if necessary.

Our kittens may never be surrendered to a shelter, rescue organization, pet shop, research facility, or rehomed without first contacting us.

Please note that transportation and veterinary expenses associated with returning a kitten remain the responsibility of the owner. Reservation deposits are non-refundable.

Indoor Lifestyle

Our kittens are raised exclusively indoors and are intended to remain indoor companions throughout their lives.

An indoor lifestyle provides the greatest protection from disease, injury, predators, toxins, and accidents while allowing your Scottish Fold to enjoy a longer, healthier life.
Because every kitten is an individual, we cannot guarantee specific personality traits, behaviors, or adult appearance. Genetics, environment, nutrition, training, and socialization all play important roles in your kitten’s development.

Transitioning to Their New Home

Moving to a new home is an exciting milestone but can also be stressful for a young kitten.

We recommend introducing your new family member gradually to children, visitors, and other pets.

For households with existing pets, your kitten should remain separated until examined by your veterinarian within five (5) days of arrival. Proper quarantine helps protect both your new kitten and your current pets while supporting your health guarantee.

Health Guarantee

Every Folded Heirs kitten is examined by a licensed veterinarian before leaving our care and is believed to be healthy at the time of placement.
To maintain your health guarantee:

• Your kitten must be examined by a licensed veterinarian within five (5) days of arrival.
• If a serious health concern is identified during this period, we must be notified immediately.
• Written documentation from your veterinarian must accompany any claim.

If a qualifying congenital or hereditary condition is confirmed according to the terms of our purchase agreement, we will work closely with your family to determine the appropriate resolution.

Routine veterinary care, diagnostic testing, vaccinations, medications, emergency care, transportation, and other veterinary expenses remain the responsibility of the new owner.
Failure to complete the required veterinary examination within five days may void portions of the health guarantee.

Understanding FIP

Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP) is a complex disease associated with feline coronavirus.

Because feline coronavirus is extremely common in cats and there is currently no reliable method to predict which cats may later develop FIP, no breeder can ethically guarantee against this disease.

While we take every precaution to raise healthy kittens in a clean, carefully managed environment, FIP is considered an unpredictable illness beyond any breeder’s control.

Stress After Adoption

It’s completely normal for kittens to experience mild stress during the first several days after arriving home.

Temporary symptoms may include:

• Sneezing
• Mild watery eyes
• Reduced appetite
• Soft stool or mild diarrhea
• Constipation
• Increased sleeping or hiding

These behaviors are typically short-lived as your kitten adjusts to a new environment.
If symptoms become severe or persist, please contact both your veterinarian and Folded Heirs immediately.

Vaccinations & Preventive Care

Before going home, every Folded Heirs kitten receives age-appropriate veterinary care, including wellness examinations, vaccinations, and parasite prevention.
Your veterinarian will help you continue an appropriate vaccination schedule based on your kitten’s age, lifestyle, and local regulations.

We encourage owners to discuss all future vaccinations with their veterinarian before administration.

Nutrition

Proper nutrition is one of the most important investments you can make in your kitten’s lifelong health.

We recommend feeding only high-quality diets from our approved nutrition guide.
Your kitten should always have access to fresh, filtered water served in stainless steel or glass bowls.
We do not recommend feeding cow’s milk or table scraps.

Safe Home Environment

Your kitten’s health extends beyond food and veterinary care.

Whenever possible, we encourage the use of pet-safe, non-toxic household cleaners, detergents, and cleaning products to reduce unnecessary chemical exposure.

Litter Training

All Folded Heirs kittens are fully litter trained before leaving our home.

To help your kitten adjust, we recommend initially confining them to a quiet room with:

• Food and fresh water
• Litter box
• Comfortable bed
• Scratching post or cat tree

Once your kitten feels comfortable, you can gradually introduce additional areas of your home.

Flea Prevention

We recommend working with your veterinarian to establish a safe flea prevention program appropriate for your kitten’s age, weight, and lifestyle.

Never administer over-the-counter flea products without veterinary guidance.

We’re always happy to answer questions, offer guidance, and celebrate milestones throughout your cat’s life.

Agreement

Placing a reservation or purchasing a Folded Heirs kitten indicates your understanding and acceptance of our adoption policies and purchase agreement.

Complete legal terms, health guarantees, and purchase conditions are provided within our official Kitten Purchase Contract prior to final placement.
